Confirmations Operator, Asia

Mercuria is a major player in the Physical and Financial Global Commodity markets, with major trading centres in London, Geneva, Houston, Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing. We actively trade in all the major commodity asset classes, from Crude and Refined oil products to Power & Gas, Coal, Environmental Products Certificates, Carbon Emissions Credits, through to freight, metals, and agricultural products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Trade Confirmation of all confirmable deals within acceptable deadlines, in line with business transaction procedures, covering a variety of products including Environmental Products, Carbon emissions Power & Gas, oil derivatives, and Metals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Mercuria generated confirmations are dispatched in a timely manner
  • Drafting of confirmations in accordance with the trade recaps
  • Ensure that all in-bound broker and counterparty confirmations are checked against our internal records on the day of receipt.
  • Ensure that all checked confirmations are updated as being received on the confirmation tracking list on the day of receipt.
  • Ensure that all outstanding confirmations are chased on a regular basis and in a manner that can be evidenced.
  • Ensure that all risk items are prioritized:
    • Where no confirmation has been received from either party about brokered trades.
    • Where no counterparty confirmation has been received for unbrokered trades.
  • To demonstrate /detail actions taken on all unconfirmed positions to escalate situations with Front Office as appropriate.
  • Production of daily confirmation, with and provide feedback on mismatch issues.
  • Review and propose appropriate processes and standard templates in line with market requirements
  • Any other tasks as directed by your line manager.

Technical qualifications & skills

  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Strong system skills
  • Knowledge in Australia, New Zealand and Japan Power & Gas, Environmental Products, Carbon emissions, Oil derivatives and products, and Metals is preferred but not necessary
  • Meticulous and attentive to details

Profile

  • Fresh graduates with Degree and Diploma will be considered
  • Experience in handling commodity contracts is advantageous, but not necessary
  • Positive approach to problem solving
  • Able to withstand work pressure and tight schedules
  • Confidence in own abilities
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Good team player
