MERCURIA is supporting Article 15 Foundation in educating children and youths on a project aimed at fighting the Ebola virus in Senegal. Basic health education material prepared by WHO, UNICEF and major health NGOs will be distributed and 3 days will be spent training the 200 adult supervisors involved in the project on how to educate the youngsters and also how to increase awareness.
Over the past 3 years, in collaboration with the local NGO ENDA, Article 15 Foundation has been supporting a project involving over 4’000 children and youths living in low income urban areas. These children then become extremely useful health promoters within their families and communities and can assist by implementing preventive measures against a possible onset of the epidemic by stressing the need to report possible cases to medical personnel and through emphasising the importance of personal and environmental hygiene.
