Bipartisan Swiss Embassy Event Highlights Mission to Support Severely Wounded Veterans

[Washington, DC] April  29, 2025 — Helping a Hero, a Texas-based nonprofit dedicated to providing specially adapted homes for severely wounded was proud to be a part of the White House Correspondents Dinner festivities this weekend where veterans were honored guests at the prestigious “Evening with TIME” reception at the Swiss Embassy hosted by Ambassador Ralf Heckner and thanks to the sponsorship of Mercuria.

The evening featured a dynamic mix of leaders from across the political spectrum, including Rep. Dan Crenshaw, Senator Amy Klobuchar, and influential voices in journalism, philanthropy, and business.

Through Mercuria’s support, Helping a Hero was able to share its mission with an elite audience, reinforcing the national effort to build homes for severely wounded veterans.

“Helping a Hero gave me a home, but events like these remind me I’m part of a much bigger family,” said Helping a Hero Ambassador and Marine Corps Veteran, Daniel Gilyeat. “Being in these rooms, shaking hands, and telling our stories, is healing. It shows that America and the entire world community still stands with veterans.”

Army veteran, and Helping a Hero home recipient Amon Benjamin added, “This wasn’t just another reception, it was a reminder that we have allies in powerful places who want to see veterans thrive. I’m honored to share my story and be part of this movement. I appreciate the chance to share my journey and show others that wounded veterans can still lead, inspire, and give back.”

Jacob Way, National Fundraising Director for Helping a Hero, said: “Mercuria didn’t just sponsor our veterans, they sponsor hope. Their support gave our veterans the opportunity to tell their stories and reminded everyone in that room why our mission matters.”
