Analyst/Senior Analyst - Derivatives

Mercuria is currently expanding its oil product business in Asia and is looking to add an Analyst to assist the trading team in market research and analysis by modeling supply & demand balances, forecasting future market outlook/price action, and to assist with formulating trading strategies. In addition, the role will also involves exposure management and execution of derivatives for the trading desk. The candidate will require in depth understanding of Gasoline, Naphtha, Middle Distillates and Fuel Oil with at least 5 years of experience in building market analytic models and have also have 2 years’ experience in Risk management / product control / reporting.

 

Responsibilities

  • Modelling of complex cross commodity market date to build supply and demand balances that can predict and forecast future market price action.
  • Build and manage trading exposure models and assisting with hedging strategies.
  • Build and manage vessel tracking reports for flows, gauge regional excess/deficit, competitor analyzing.
  • To work closely with the trading desk.

 

Technical qualifications and skills

  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Ability to build quality databases and predictive modelling tools.
  • Experience with both physical and derivative markets and trading concepts.
  • Strong passion for market analytics while having commercial sense to assist with executing deals.
  • Experience with roles in market research and Risk management.
  • Knowledge in bunkering business.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor in Chemical, with Finance background.
  • 5yrs minimum experience working in a Commodities Trading Firm as a market research analyst in Gasoline, Naphtha, Gasoil and Fuel Oil.
  • 2 years minimum experience in middle office risk management reporting roles for oil products.
  • Good understanding of global commodity supply bases, policy and market thematic.
